Kriptomat is closing – Continue crypto investing with Kraken
After more than eight years of building Kriptomat, we have made the difficult decision to wind down our operations and close the business by June 30th, 2026. Kriptomat remains solvent and all customer assets are safe and available for withdrawal. We ask all customers to withdraw their funds by the end of June.
This decision follows continued uncertainty around the transition to the new MiCA licensing framework in the European Union. While we are proud of the standards to which we have operated and remain confident in our business practices, processes, and systems, we have concluded that an orderly wind-down is the most responsible path forward.
We have been working to make this transition as smooth as possible for you. As part of that effort, we have partnered with Kraken — one of the world's most trusted and established crypto platforms — to give our customers a seamless path forward. Kraken is MiCAR-regulated, has been a Kriptomat partner since our founding, and offers access to a broader range of assets and investment options. We recommend transitioning to Kraken as your first option.
If you prefer to withdraw your funds directly, you can do that too. Full instructions are on this page.

TRANSITION TO KRAKEN — OUR RECOMMENDED OPTION
We have partnered with Kraken to give Kriptomat customers a trusted place to continue their crypto investment journey. This is not a generic recommendation — Kraken has been a Kriptomat partner since our founding, and after eight years in this industry, we know who to trust with our customers.
About Kraken
Founded in 2011, Kraken is one of the most established and regulated crypto platforms in the world. In 15 years of operation, Kraken has never lost user funds in a security breach — an extraordinary track record in an industry defined by high-profile failures and collapses.
In Europe, Kraken holds a MiCAR licence covering the entire EEA, a MiFID II passport for regulated derivatives, and an Electronic Money Institution licence for fiat operations. It operates under active regulatory oversight in more than 25 jurisdictions — making it one of the most broadly regulated crypto exchanges in Europe.
On the product side, Kraken offers 600+ digital assets, 60+ tokenised equities through xStocks, 150+ regulated perpetual futures, native staking, fiat on and off-ramps in 25+ currencies, and full API access for advanced users.
In short — more assets, deeper liquidity, stronger regulation, and a longer track record than any comparable platform available to European retail customers today.
By moving to Kraken, you get:
- A simple, fast account setup with a dedicated offer for Kriptomat customers
- The ability to transfer your crypto holdings directly — no need to sell and re-buy
- Access to a wider range of assets and investment options beyond what Kriptomat offered, including tokenised equities and regulated futures.
- An exclusive welcome incentive as a Kriptomat customer - available to eligible accounts.
- Full MiCAR regulatory protection as an EU-regulated platform
How it works:
- Log in to your Kriptomat account and follow the instructions
- Complete Kraken's onboarding
- Transfer your crypto directly from Kriptomat to your new Kraken wallet
- Your EUR balance can be withdrawn from Kriptomat to your bank account and deposited to Kraken separately
To unlock your exclusive transfer bonus, sign up on Kraken using the same email address as your Kriptomat account.
This is the smoothest path forward if you want to continue investing. We recommend completing your transition well before 30 June 2026.
OR WITHDRAW DIRECTLY FROM KRIPTOMAT
If you prefer not to move, you can withdraw your funds directly from Kriptomat at any time before 30 June 2026.
You can withdraw in one of three ways:
- EUR withdrawal to your bank account
- EUR withdrawal to your credit or debit card
- Crypto withdrawal to an external wallet or another service provider
What happens next
Phase 1: Act now – Until May 25th, 2026
If you have a balance on your account, now is the time to act. Do not wait until the final days before the deadline:
Here is what to do:
- Log in to your Kriptomat account and review your balances
- Choose your path: move to Kraken or withdraw directly
- Complete any final trades you wish to make
- Move funds from Intelligent Portfolio, KriptoEarn or your vault to your main wallet
- If moving to Kraken: log in to your account and follow the Kraken transition instructions
- If withdrawing from Kriptomat, follow the EUR or crypto withdrawal instructions below
- Export your transaction history for your personal record and future tax reporting
- Contact support if you need help
- All Intelligent Portfolio positions will be terminated, and the assets will be moved to your main wallet automatically
Note: recurring purchases, investment plans, buy-at-price orders, and crypto deposits will be disabled during this phase.
There is no need to request account deletion. All accounts with a zero balance will be closed automatically, and you will be notified by email.
Phase 2: Check your progress – May 26th to June 29th, 2026
By this point, around half of the wind-down period has passed.
If you have already moved to Kraken or withdrawn your funds, no further action is needed. If you have not, this is your reminder to act now. Waiting until the final days increases the risk of delays and possible manual processing fees.
During this phase, the following changes will take effect on your account:
- All KriptoEarn positions will be terminated, and the assets will be returned to your main wallet
- All buy and sell at price orders will be disabled
- All recurring investment plans will be disabled
Once your assets are in your main wallet, you can transition to Kraken or withdraw in EUR or crypto.
As the deadline gets closer, we encourage all customers to:
- Carefully review withdrawal details before confirming
- Use only official Kriptomat channels for support and instructions
Phase 3: Final deadline notice
The June 30th, 2026 deadline is approaching. If you still have funds in your account, withdraw them now.
After June 30th, 2026, Kriptomat will no longer offer regulated services. You will still be able to access your account until September 1st, 2026, but will not be able to initiate any transactions.
After September 1st, the account will no longer be accessible via the Kriptomat web and mobile app.
Any accounts with remaining balances will be handled on an individual, case-by-case basis in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, managed by the wind-down manager and support team. We will continue to support customers in this situation, but post-deadline support will be subject to operational limitations and may incur service fees. We strongly encourage everyone to withdraw before the deadline to avoid reliance on post-deadline processes.

Frequently asked questions
Can I move my account to another platform?
Yes, and we recommend it. We have partnered with Kraken to offer Kriptomat customers a dedicated transition path. Kraken is one of the world's leading MiCAR-regulated crypto platforms and has been a Kriptomat partner since our founding in 2018. You can transfer your crypto holdings directly to Kraken and claim an exclusive welcome offer for our customers. Click here to get started.
What is happening to Kriptomat?
Kriptomat is winding down its operations and will cease regulated business activity by June 30, 2026. Customers are asked to move to Kraken or withdraw their funds before that date.
Why is Kriptomat winding down?
Kriptomat has been working to transition to the new MiCA licensing framework. Due to continued uncertainty around the timing of that process in Estonia – where no MiCA licences have been issued to date – the company has concluded that winding down is the most responsible course of action. There is no insolvency, no fraud, and no misconduct. You can read the full explanation here.
Are my funds safe?
Yes. Kriptomat remains solvent, and customer assets are safe and available to withdraw. Your funds are held separately from company funds at all times. You are owed exactly what your account shows.
What do I need to do now?
We recommend one of two actions: transition your account to Kraken using the link on this page, or withdraw your funds in EUR or crypto before 30 June 2026. Full instructions for both options are available on this page.
When is the deadline to withdraw funds?
June 30th, 2026. Please do not wait until the final days. Acting early gives you time to resolve any issues that may come up.
Can I withdraw both EUR and crypto?
Yes. You can withdraw EUR to your verified bank account or withdraw crypto to an external wallet or another service provider, subject to the usual platform processes.
What if I need help?
If you need help, please contact Kriptomat support through our official support email or live chat. We recommend reaching out early if you experience any issues.
What happens if I do not withdraw my funds by June 30th, 2026?
Kriptomat is committed to continuing to support customers with remaining balances after the deadline on a manual, case-by-case basis until all outstanding customer obligations have been fulfilled. However, you should not rely on this. Withdrawing before the deadline is always the better option because post-deadline process may be subject to delays, service fees, and operational limitations.
Will customer support remain available during the wind-down?
Yes. Customer support will remain available during the wind-down period to assist with withdrawals and account-related questions.
Will there be an inactivity fee?
Yes. A monthly inactivity fee will be applied to accounts that have not completed a qualifying transaction. This fee will be deducted from your account balance each month. The simplest way to avoid the fee is to withdraw your funds. Full details are available in our updated Terms and Conditions.
What happens to my personal data?
We are required by law to retain certain personal and transactional data after closure in order to meet our legal and regulatory obligations. This includes identity verification records and transaction history, which must be retained for a minimum of 5 years after the end of your account relationship, in accordance with applicable anti-money laundering and financial regulations.
Data that is not required for legal or regulatory purposes – such as marketing preferences and behavioural data – will be deleted at closure.
Your data will be stored securely and will not be used for any purpose other than satisfying these legal obligations. Please note that the right to erasure is limited where a legal retention obligation applies.
What happens if I send crypto to my Kriptomat wallet after deposits are disabled?
After the announcement, crypto deposits to your Kriptomat wallet will be disabled. We strongly recommend that you do not send any crypto to your Kriptomat wallet address after this date.
If you accidentally send crypto to your Kriptomat wallet address after deposits have been disabled, please contact our support team immediately. We will do our best to assist you and handle each case individually, but we cannot guarantee recovery in all circumstances, and you might be charged a manual recovery service fee. Resolution may take time and is subject to technical and operational limitations.
To avoid this situation entirely, please stop using your Kriptomat wallet addresses for incoming transfers as soon as Phase 1 begins and update any saved addresses in your external wallets or other platforms accordingly.
Where can I find official updates?
All updates will be published on this page and sent through official Kriptomat email communications. Be cautious of any messages from unofficial sources – see the fraud warning below.
Stay alert to scams and impersonation attempts
Periods of operational change can lead to increased scam activity. Fraudsters may impersonate Kriptomat or our support team to trick you into revealing personal information or sending funds to fraudulent addresses.
Please remember:
- Kriptomat will never ask you to send funds to a new wallet "for safekeeping"
- Kriptomat will never ask for your password, 2FA code, or full security credentials
- Only use links published on our official website or sent through verified official communications – website support chat and email
- Kriptomat does not use Telegram, WhatsApp, Viber, X, Facebook, or Instagram to offer support
- If you are unsure whether a message is genuine, contact support directly before taking any action
If you suspect fraud or receive suspicious communication, contact us immediately through our official support channels.
